Maranda van Oirschot
Lab Technician
I am an aspiring molecular physiologist with an interest in the sub-cellular mechanisms of animals and how they allow animals to do incredible things like survive low temperatures. I completed my undergrad at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia where I spent most of my time studying cytoskeletal proteins in freeze-tolerant crickets. I am excited to join the Lebenzon Lab as a technician and transition into my master’s where I will be focusing on how the cellular chaperone response impacts the Colorado potato beetle’s ability to survive low temperatures. I am looking forward to exploring the west side of Canada, eating good food, creating art, and finding new running trails.
